Ollo Clip Telephoto
Little lens for big distances
Back to the well. It's like potato chips: so good, you can't stop. Olloclip telephoto for iPhone 6 will keep you shooting. What started out as one lens for our production (the 4:1) has turned into more. Shooting with your iPhone 6 is so much better with great optics. The telephoto lens from OlloClip isn't just a zoom, it's a physical lens - which 'means a much better picture than digital zoom.
I recently purchased the OlloClip 4:1, and as hypothesized, it was just the beginning of lens lust. (NOTE: At the time of this article, you can get the Macro 3:1 from OlloClip for 50% OFF when you purchase it with the 4:1 - highly recommended). If you're a fan of shooting, after you get one lens, you're going to revisit the site with your 'buy' finger itching. http://olloclip.com I got the Telephoto/Polarizing lens.
When I first started shooting in high school, I wanted lenses and filters. My dad's advice: "Polarizing filter is the most important - start with that." It still holds up today, even when shooting with your iPhone 6 or iPad.
Road to NAB 2014 iPhone Production This year, a small team and I will be trying something completely different. Rather than relying on the heavy duty gear that we've used in the past, our production is shifting to mobile. Completely mobile. That means iPhones and iPads. It means we can deliver quickly, but the smaller gear is also more difficult to control and protect. But to get a good picture, I had to look for some lens alternatives.
Although I've done some rudimentary tests, my serious telephoto lens photos will debut at the NABShow conference when I use them with the Adobe Clip app. #getadobeclip
The first tests that I've done really showcase the ability to take a better picture, maintain better light quality in the picture, and STILL have the ability to create a digital zoom if you want.
The back of the telephoto lens also has a simple polarizing ring. WAIT WHAT' No. it's not simple. It's a great polarizing ring. I'm so used to having polarizing filters on my DSLR that I'm already taking for granted that the OlloClip lenses are my mobile pro equivalent. The filter ring slides easily, allowing you to cut specular glare and/or reflections.
The telephoto/polarizing combo is a great companion to the 4:1 lens. The polarizing filter has an adapter that will fit over other lenses as well, so you can use it either by itself or with other lenses.
Stay tuned for lots of video footage coming from the show floor. You can follow me on twitter @ninjacrayon for updates and photos.
Will extend the potential of your phone's camera.
Shallow depth of field is beautiful.
This is real lens magnification, not just a digital 'zoom'
Will make your images look better than you thought they could
Get everyone in the picture without falling off the cliff.
Because different devices have cameras in different places, this is made for a specific mobile device.
The polarizing filter is delicate and comes with a protective case. USE IT.
The telephoto is a bigger profile lens (duh) - you may want to consider a carrying case if you have more than one lens to bring along.
